Annual mental breakdown – achieved last weekend.
The Light Infantry – Templars Gear competition in a 36-hour non-stop format gave us a proper beating. I didn’t sleep for 60 hours... There were night kayaks with two 30-kg rucksacks on board. Shoving the boat under trees, taking on water, crossing rapids screaming with eyes closed.
We covered 50-60 km hunting for navigation points with 30 kg on our backs and contempt in our eyes for the kiddie schoolbags carried by other participants. 😉
Shooting at distances from 5 to 350 m. Strangely enough – 350 went better than 5. 😂
There was great company, dark humor, and endless whining about whose boots were worse.
We had losses in gear and men, but luckily we only destroyed one suppressor and a trekking pole.
My wingman Jacek Zgutka showed iron physical and mental stamina. Ate little, drank little, talked little. The perfect teammate. 😀 Thanks for 36 hours of fun and keeping morale up on the kayaks.
In the end, we finished 8th out of 44 teams, which – considering we couldn’t use one rifle for half the competition and our navigation-shooting confusion – only proves that the Lord is our shepherd.
KSI, it was awesome! Sure, still a bit too “light” – but definitely better than before. You’re going in the right direction. When the percentage of teams reaching the finish line drops below 50%, then it’ll be just right. And what’s with those campfires on the range??? March or die!
