On 24-25 September 2016, together with members of Klub Strzelających Inaczej and Pomorska Obrona Terytorialna, we ran the Light Infantry competition. True to light infantry form, it was not easy.
The shooting tasks covered a wide range of topics related to a rifle unit’s fire-fight: long-range shooting, short-range engagements, night combat, various movement techniques, emergency handling of the assault rifle, fire direction, shooting from a vehicle and engaging appearing targets.
An additional burden was that competitors had little rest time between shooting stages because they had to capture control points in the field, which involved orienteering marches often across very difficult terrain. A nighttime tactical task meant there was hardly any time to catch a wink, and the shooting stages after a sleepless night were by no means easier. Competitors unanimously stressed that it was not easy.
In the next edition we will try to make the shooting competitions even harder and to complicate the orienteering tasks further.
