Light Infantry was born out of a simple need: to separate talk from action. No comfort. No excuses. No shortcuts. The idea had been growing for years in the mind of Borys Romanko, who wanted a competition that truly tests field competence – shooting skills, navigation, endurance and teamwork under pressure.
In 2016, the first edition took place. Twelve pioneers. A military range in Strzepcz. Raw tasks that proved one thing: this is not an event for casual hobbyists. After that came a long break – lack of infrastructure paused the project for more than three years. But not for good. Since 2020, Light Infantry has returned stronger, evolved and fully operational. Its home base is now the Podwórze Koguta shooting range in Zielnowo, and each edition pushes the limits further.
What is the Light Infantry competition?
Light Infantry is a tactical shooting operation, not a casual event. It’s a full-scale field test designed to expose weakness and reward determination, precision and mindset under stress. Competitors navigate through terrain, operate in pairs, solve tactical problems and complete missions including mid- and long-range shooting, CQB, medical scenarios, rope work and combat drone operations.
Each edition of Light Infantry is a new chapter in the same story
– a story of people who, year after year, gather in the same place to test themselves, their gear, and their teamwork. We started ten years ago with just a few stages and a handful of enthusiasts. Today it's dozens of tasks, hundreds of competitors, and thousands of rounds fired.
