The second round of Light Infantry 2026 — New Frontline no. 12 — is ahead of us, starting this coming Friday.
But today we would like to warmly invite all participants of this year's edition in the Lighter and Blitz categories, as well as all those who took part in editions I–XI, and those who have never participated in Light Infantry before, to take part in a survey (poll).

The dust has settled from the uniforms rolled in the mud of GRASSLINE and the slime of AMAZONIA. Time for a brief summary of the Lighter and Blitz categories.
A total of 87 teams started in the Lighter category and 14 in the Blitz category.
The best in the reactivated BLITZ category (formerly Lightest) were Light Infantry veterans (competitors who have previously started multiple times in the Light category) — team Zero Echo Zero, who were also the best in the tactical tasks. The best shooters were team Chatka Puchatka.
In the Lighter category, the title was taken by Kobe — last year's runners-up, in an international lineup of Głowa and Ślimak — also the best in the tactical tasks. The best shooters were Noposiwres.
As we can see, the victories went to teams that were simultaneously the best in the tactical tasks.

For now we're skipping the NAVIGATION task for now, as we're preparing a major change to the way waypoints are scored — we'll cover that one last. Today's tactical task is for the Light and MILSIM categories only — THE HUNT.
The task is unchanged from last year's edition. The only change is the timing of mandatory equipment checks in the competition’s area and any penalties for missing gear. Checks will be in effect from 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 18th. From the very start of the competition (5:00 PM, Friday, July 17th) you can expect traps.

Time to present the tactical tasks taking place outside the range. First up — the legendary stage: WATER TASK, for the Light/MILSIM category.
This year the task will look different. Teams must reach the kayak marina on Lake Orle and paddle an approx. 5 km loop along the Reda river canal within 60 minutes. Up to 600 pts to be earned — and failure to attempt the task results in a -500 pt penalty. Number of kayaks is limited! First come, first served!
There will be an option to deposit one backpack until Saturday, 10:00 AM. NOTE! Weapons, ammunition, and GPS trackers MUST NOT be left in the deposited backpack!

DRONES – RECONNAISSANCE is the last stationary tactical task at the range. To attempt it at all, you need to bring your own drone. Your objective is to locate and photograph an enemy outpost and a designated competitor team. Good weather means you fly; bad weather means you get a set of photos to match against a map. THE EXAM is the task that will find out whether your knowledge matches your shooting skills. 15 closed questions, 6 minutes to prepare your answers, then the Range Officer reads the questions one by one — you answer by raising a card with your chosen letter. No phones, no notes, no consulting other teams. The material covers firearms knowledge, radio communication, navigation, drone basics, and the fundamental history of armed conflicts of the last 125 years. Leave your phone in your pack — it won't help you anyway.

SURVIVAL is another first at Light Infantry 2026. You have 10 minutes, a designated area, and whatever you find there. The task consists of three elements: build a stretcher and use it to carry a load, dig and light a Dakota Fire Hole using a fire starter, then clean up and camouflage the area after yourselves. The organizers provide a shovel and a fire starter — of questionable quality. The rest is up to you.

One steel target, 30 cm diameter, 500 meters, only 5 shots, 60 seconds. 500 meters is a distance most shooters in Poland rarely get the chance to test themselves at. NIGHT LOTTERY is the third and final night shooting stage at the Light Infantry 2026 competition. Three steel targets, 40 meters, rifle, standing position — sounds simple? There's a catch. Each target is marked with a set of symbols, and the Range Officer presents you with a set of symbols to engage — you need to decide which targets to shoot. The moment you step onto the firing line, the Range Officer changes the set of symbols, and going back to check is not permitted. Engaging an incorrect target or missing a required one results in a procedural penalty. Night, fatigue, and time pressure do their job — you have 180 seconds. Your head needs to work just as well as your trigger finger.

The Machine Gun stage was or will be, for many participants, their first opportunity to become familiar with operating this type of firearm. The Spotter stage has been highly rated and has been part of the Light Infantry competition since its earliest editions. This year, it has been significantly modified. First, the targets will be spaced far apart instead of being grouped on a single plate rack as before. Second, the shooter can perform the initial target identification alone, but confirming “left or right” will no longer be possible without the spotter. Effective and efficient team communication will be the key to success here.

9-HOLES 2026 is a stage that has appeared in previous Light Infantry competitions. This time there will be no divider between competitors, as it is not necessary. Competitors know which ports to use to engage the targets, but they must communicate to determine how many times each target should be hit. PARKOUR first appeared last year and received high ratings from competitors, so it will return in this year’s edition. However, there will be a significant change this time — there is no hit limit, meaning targets can be engaged as many times as desired. KILLHOUSE is one of the most popular stages of the Light Infantry competition. The task involves moving through a series of rooms where two competitors encounter and engage wooden and polymer targets.

Only the lead competitor, moving in front, may engage the targets. The second competitor moves directly behind with an unloaded firearm and may take the lead only after a safe role change. The competitors proceed through successive rooms without returning to those already cleared, taking care not to disturb or shoot any structural elements that are not designated targets.

This stage strongly emphasizes teamwork, communication, and SAFE movement with firearms in a confined space. On this stage, competitors will also have the option to choose which firearm they want to use to complete it.

“Hangman” begins with the correct donning of an improvised harness.
Next, the partner must be hauled up onto the platform. After shooting, the competitor must be lowered back to the ground — preferably in a controlled manner, not a gravitational one.

This stage may look unassuming: a cart, a rope, and three targets.
The problem is that the pulling pace must go hand in hand with accurate shooting. Too slow — you lose time. Too fast — you lose sight of the target.
During a single run, you may pull the cart forward and backward if you need to re-engage a target that is hidden behind cover.

This is also the first of several tasks where BONUS points can be earned if both competitors complete it while wearing gas masks.

RAT RUN. A stage that has been part of the Light Infantry competition for the past four years. This time, due to the range reconstruction, it will be relocated and will have an above-ground format.
Competitors will complete it individually and while wearing gas masks.
This stage will allow a choice of firearm.
We would like to remind everyone that a pistol is not a mandatory piece of equipment in this year’s competition.

Starting today, every 2–3 days we will publish descriptions of the stages prepared for Light Infantry 2026 – New Frontline No.12.

First up — a new feature at Light Infantry: The Zip Line. The location has already been selected and measured; we only have practical testing left to complete, but we need to wait until the snow melts before we can proceed.

In the competitors’ folder, a new subfolder has been added — ZADANIA / TASKS, where we will be updating the PDF file containing the tasks descriptions.

You will also find the updated competition regulations there, in which we have clarified what we mean by a “gas mask,” which is a mandatory piece of equipment — Section 9.1 and 9.2, Item 13 in the table.

We now have our start lists almost fully completed, so it’s time to assign start numbers.
On the Competition subpage – Downloads a folder titled “Start numbers – 2026” is now available. Inside, you will find the list for your category along with your team’s assigned start number.

The 2026 edition has broken more records: over 400 competitors (360 in 2025) from 15 countries (13 countries in 2025) across Europe and the USA. Apart from Poland, the largest representations will come from Germany, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.

The last available slots for Light Infantry 2026 – New Frontline No.12: 1 in the Blitz category and 3 in the Lighter category.
